Cosmetic eyelid surgery is considered very safe. Typically, it is performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthetic. There will be some swelling, bruising and minor discomfort, but it is temporary. Stitches are removed in 7-10 days and cosmetics can be applied at that time. Generally, bruising will have disappeared in about two weeks.
